Milwaukee Road E9 engine 36A
On Tuesday morning, 20th July 2010, you might have thought you had taken a trip back in time. Standing alongside the old Deer Lodge station building (now the Senior Citizens Center) was a Milwaukee Road engine. Recently arrived from Livingston, the Milwaukee E-9 Diesel engine #36A is on route to the Old Montana Prison Museum at the south end of town. It will eventually be positioned alongside their existing electric engine, #E70 ‘Little Joe’. A caboose is to join the collection later this summer, producing a very nice display of Milwaukee Railroad equipment, a remembrance of times past when Deer Lodge was a main Railroad center.
