Press Release from the Ranch:

Harvest of Fun at Grant-Kohrs Ranch

Pumpkin Sunday

It’s a harvest celebration for children and adults alike on October 20, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge.

We are happy to be back at work serving the American people and excited to welcome the community back to America’s ranch.
Children will be busy with the cider press while teens and adults learn the art of wheat weaving.  After the annual dash through the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect pumpkin, youngsters twelve and under can paint their finds. There will be lots to do for visitors of all ages. Other games and activities will include a hay maze, wagon rides, making leaf masks and Scavenger Hunt Bingo. A bonfire will take the chill off the day and provide a chance for the microwave generation to learn how corn was popped in the Good Old Days.

The ranch celebrates the open range cattle era, with original buildings ranging from the 1862 bunkhouse to the 1935 blacksmith shop. Tours of the elegant ranch house will be given.

Admission to the ranch is always free, but as is traditional during special events, canned goods for the Deer Lodge Food Pantry will be welcome.

Call (406) 846-2070 or visit www.nps.gov/grko for more information.
