Deer Lodge Territorial Days Events start on Saturday 20th June with the Prison Break Run, a fun run, walk and road race sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association. All runs start at 8:00 am with registration beginning one hour before race time at the Old Prison Museum, 1106 Main Street.
The Show and Shine registration takes place in the Old Prison Yard from 9 am till 11 am. Entry is $25 for your 1st car, $10 each for your 2nd and subsequent cars. Entrants receive a goodie bag plus a chance to win one of our TOP 20 AWARDS or the Peoples Choice Award. More information can be found on this page. All Show N Shine participants leave at 11:20 am from the Prison Yard to join the parade.
The Territorial Days Parade starts at 11:30 am from outside Muriah’s Restaurant on the corner of Main and Pennsylvania, and there will be Gift Certificates awarded to the best 3 parade entrants. The Pioneer Power and Tractor Association Antique Tractor Show will take place on Main Street after the Parade.
Jaywalkers Jamboree will start after the parade, with vendors set up along Main Street selling everything from food and drink to jewelry, clothing, toys, art and craft items, etc. Attractions will be available for kids and those young at heart.
The Country Showdown starts at 1 pm on the stage on Missouri and Main.
The “Heather Lingle Band” will be on stage at 7 pm for our Free Street Dance, which runs until 11 pm.
Other events are also taking place in Deer Lodge on Saturday, including special sales and other events at local stores. Check local paper and flyers for details.
On Sunday, the Annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament takes place at the Deer Park Golf Course.

♦ Santa’s Visit: Friday and Saturday, December 5th and 6th
Santa will appear at the Pen Convention Center on Main Street from 5 pm till 7 pm on Friday. On Saturday, Santa will be at City Hall from Noon and will hand out candy during the Christmas Stroll from 2 to 7 pm
♦ Children’s Movie: Friday and Saturday, December 5th and 6th
A children’s movie, “Frozen” (PG), will be shown at the Rialto Theater, at 7:30 pm on Friday and 2 pm on Saturday. There will also be a movie, “The Santa Claus” (PG), shown at 7:30 pm on Saturday. All movies are FREE but canned donations to the Deer Lodge Food Pantry will be welcomed. Sponsored by the Powell County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Services (MRC/Calumet) and the Rialto Community Theatre.
♦ Christmas Festival: 6 pm Friday, December 5th
Powell County Museum & Arts Foundation will be holding their annual Holiday Celebration at the Pen Convention Center on Main Street. The preview starts at 6 pm, main events start at 7 pm. There will be free food and drink, live auctions, door prizes, raffles (including 50/50, decorated trees, table decorations, liquor basket, etc.) plus live music. Santa will appear at 9 pm when he will draw the winning ticket for the 1966 Mustang Raffle Car. FREE of charge.
Stroll Buttons will be on sale at ACE Hardware, Keystone Drug & Gifts, MRC (Calumet), Old Prison Museum Gift Shop and Valley Foods. Up to 900 Buttons are available at $2.00 each, and provide over 150 opportunities for the wearer to win Store Prizes and Gift Certificates. During the Stroll, button wearers can visit local businesses, and if they find their number matches the number in the store they receive a prize. Some merchants draw extra numbers each week in the run up to Christmas, so be sure to visit them often. Don’t forget, button numbers will be called out during the Christmas Stroll, giving you lots of chances to win Gift Certificates valued up to $100! Over $350 in Gift Certificates must be won.
♦ Christmas Stroll: 2 pm till 7 pm Saturday, December 6th
The Christmas Stroll will take place city wide between 2 pm till 7 pm. Please support all our Local Businesses. Three blocks of the central business district (300, 400, 500) will be closed to vehicular traffic. There will be carol singing, store sales and other events throughout the day. Don’t forget the two drawings for Gift Certificates, based upon Stroll Buttons purchased by participants, where you can win up to $100! The first drawing will be held in front of Quilter’s Corner, Etc. at 3:30 pm, the second will be held at the Community Christmas Tree in front of the Post Office, after the lighting of the tree. This year’s theme is ‘Night of 50,000 Lights’, so let’s make Main Street viewable from space! Everyone is welcome, individuals and businesses, big or small. For information, please call Rocky on 846-3545. The Parade will form on Second Street by NAPA at 5 pm and enter Main Street on Cottonwood Ave at 6 pm. It will proceed south along Main Street ending at Montana Ave where it will disband. NO THROWING CANDY FROM THE FLOATS, please. Elves will hand out candy during the Parade. ♦ Christmas Tree Lighting: Saturday, December 6th
The official Lighting of the Deer Lodge Christmas Tree will take place immediately following on from the Parade of Lights beside the Post Office. The second drawing for Gift Certificates will take place after the tree has been lit by Santa. Win up to $100!
♦ Gift Certificates Draw: Saturday, December 6th
The draw for local business gift certificates will take place in front of Quilter’s Corner, Etc at 3:30 pm. The second draw, which includes a $100 Chamber Gift Certificate, will take place after the Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at the Post Office, following the Parade of Lights. ♦ Grant-Kohrs Ranch Holiday Open House: 1 pm till 4 pm Sunday, December 7th
The Kohrs family ranch house will be decorated in late 1880’s Victorian style and open for tours from 1 pm. Activities include holiday crafts, horse drawn wagon rides, Santa, Refreshments, roasted marshmallows at the Bonfire and more. ♦ Christmas Cash
Interest free loans of up to $2,000 are available from First Security Bank, Peoples Bank of Deer Lodge and Pioneer Federal Savings & Loan. A $15.00 fee is due at the time of application.
Loans are paid back over 10 months starting January 2015.
Customers presenting Christmas Cash for a purchase MUST sign the front of the cash where indicated. Cash may be used at any participating business. Merchants will need to endorse the back of the Cash and deposit with their bank. The Cash is then redeemed with a 3% discount.
Chamber Members can join the program and accept Christmas Cash free of charge. Businesses who are Non-Members are invited to participate in the Christmas Cash program for a fee of $25, which helps cover the expense of printing the money and advertising.

PUMPKIN SUNDAY – OCTOBER 19, 2014
There will be something for everyone at Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge during the annual Pumpkin Sunday event from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 19.
Children ages 12 and under can venture into the pumpkin patch to seek out the perfect pumpkin to paint. Teenagers and adults can drop by the blacksmith shop and learn how to make traditional corn husk dolls or a non-traditional braided rattlesnake.
Wagon rides for young and old will be offered throughout the event. It’s harvest time, and cider and candle making provide a fun hands-on traditional activity for kids.
A hay maze, a bonfire for roasting marshmallow, a children’s craft, and an activity book will add to the fun.
Admission is free. Boxes will be provided for visitors to drop off canned goods for the local Food Pantry.

A Project Status Meeting regarding the Main Street Bridge replacement project in Deer Lodge will be held on Thursday October 9, 2014 at the Elks Lodge at 230 Main Street, from 2 pm.
This meeting is convened by Bauer & Buck Construction of Missoula.
The 19th Annual Big Sky Draft Horse Expo
is this weekends’ BIG EVENT in Deer Lodge.
The weekend starts with a Barn Dance at Grant-Kohrs Ranch at 6 pm on Friday, September 12.
Enjoy Hot Dogs and s’mores around the campfire whilst listening and dancing to the group ‘Hay Wire’.

The Weekend is full of Old-Time Horse Power in action at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. Events start at 8 am on both days.
