Deer Lodge Territorial Days 2016

THE 27th ANNUAL TERRITORIAL DAYS

DEER LODGE – JUNE 17 and 18, 2016

   Friday’s events kick off with Show and Shine registration at Jaycee Park from 6 pm. Entry is $25 for your 1st car, $10 each for your 2nd and subsequent cars. Voluntary sign-up for the Poker Run is $20, winners receive the whole pot of money. Free Taco Bar and refreshments for those signing up ($5 charge for others). Entrants receive a goodie bag with Dash Plaque, a free pass to the Museums, local information and other freebies. Plus a chance to win one of our awards. The vehicle having traveled furthest to our event will receive their fuel costs as a Thank You for coming, thanks to Michael J Blakeley, CPA and the Corner Office.

Friday’s events continue with a ‘Cruise the Drag’ from 8:30 pm till 10:30 pm, followed by a free outdoor movie “Hollywood Knights” on the side of ‘Elk Tips Outdoor Gear” (corner of Missouri and Main).

Saturdays events begin with the Prison Break Run, sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association.

 ~5 Kilometer (3.0 miles) fun run/walk

 ~10 Kilometer (6.0 miles) road race

All runs start at 8 am, Registration is at 7 am at a location to be announced. Finish in the Old Prison Museum Yard

  Radio Controlled Model Aircraft flying by the Butte Plane Nutz group. From 9 am till 10:30 am out at the Deer Lodge Powell County Airport (1 1/2 Miles west of Main Street, follow West Milwaukee and take first left after the Cemetery. Airport entrance is at the corner of Airport Road and Peterson Ave – see map page)

    Show and Shine registration take place in the Old Prison Yard from 8 am till 11 am. Entry is $25 for your 1st car, $10 each for your 2nd and subsequent cars. All Show N Shine participants leave at 11:20 am from the Prison Yard to join the parade. If you are late, you can register at the Chamber Booth on Main Street, close to the stage.

  The Territorial Days Parade starts at 11:30 am. Please assemble at the corner of Pennsylvania and Main (by 4B’s cafe/406 Bistro) from 11:00 am, you do not need to sign up for the Parade, just turn up and join in!

  The Pioneer Power and Tractor Association Antique Tractor Show will be held on Main Street after the Parade.

  After the Parade along Main Street, the Show and Shine entrants turn around at California/Pizza Hut, and line up along Main Street. Poker Run entrants line up nearest the Post Office. Everyone who enters is given a number of free tickets, which they place in boxes to win selected prizes (car cleaning kit, crawler, other car related prizes, free pizza at Pizza Hut, etc). We will also be awarding fuel costs to the furthest travelled entrant, and awards to ‘Best Paint’, ‘Best Interior’, ‘Best Engine’, ‘Best Muscle’, ‘Best Rod’ and ‘Peoples Choice’, etc. Awards will be given out throughout Saturday afternoon. Votes for ‘Peoples Choice’ are posted in the box on the Chamber of Commerce table next to the stage. All other awards will be selected by a panel of judges. All Awards MUST be collected no later than 5:30 pm from the Chamber booth.

  Jaywalkers Jamboree starts after the parade, with vendors along Main Street selling everything from food and drink to jewelry, clothing, toys, craft items, etc. Activities available for kids and those young at heart. More information on this page.

    DJ Doc Savage will be on stage from 1 pm playing music and announcing the Awards and Prizes throughout the afternoon.

    The Poker Run will start on Main Street at 1:30 pm. Entrants must pick up their card before leaving for Anaconda, Phillipsburg and Drummond. Pick up cards from all these locations before heading back to Pizza Hut in Deer Lodge for the final card. Two winners, the First Car with all their cards (30% of the pot) and the Best Poker Hand (70% of the pot). Winners receive 100% of the money pot. Entry fees are $20 per vehicle, sign up during registration or at the Chamber Booth on Main Street, beside the stage.

    The Live Band “Sophie Jester & The Medicine perform on stage at 7 pm for our Free Street Dance, until 11 pm.

50/50 Ticket sales from the Chamber Booth and from Chamber Members.

Fly Fishing Seminar at Elk Tips Outdoor Gear, 329 Main St. from 10 am till 4 pm. Melissa Nokes, rep for Jackson Cardinal Flies/Yellowstone Fly Rods, will be at Elk Tips Outdoor Gear to do seminars, group and one on one instruction. She will also teach fly-tying throughout the day.

Book Signing at Browsing Bison Books, 515 Main St. from 12 pm till 2 pm. Author Kevin Giles (‘Summer of the Black Chevy’ and ‘Jerry’s Riot’). Books will be available at the event or you can bring your own copy.

Live Theater at Cutler Bros., 310 Main Street from 7:30 pm. “Damn Yankees” runs Fridays through Sundays until July 3rd. Tickets $15. See website for more details.

Volunteers Required for Territorial Days

Will you be available for a few hours on Friday and/or Saturday, June 17th and 18th?

If so, please come along to our Territorial Days Volunteer Meeting at the Pen Convention Center, from 6:30 pm on Tuesday, June 14th.

We are looking for the following assistance:

  • Friday at 5:30 pm at the Pen Convention Center: Help to load up tables and chairs, and unload at Jaycee Park.
  • Friday from 6pm to 8pm at Jaycee Park: Help to sign in drivers for Saturday’s Show N Shine and Poker Run. Help with the Taco Bar. Help to clean up after 8 pm
  • Friday from 10 pm on Missouri (alongside Quilter Corner): Help set up the movie and sell popcorn. Help to clean up after the movie.
  • Saturday from 7:30 am at the Old Prison Museum Yard: Help to sign in drivers for the Show N Shine and Poker Run. Help with the Pancake Breakfast. Help to clean up after 11:30 am
  • Saturday from 12 noon on-wards on Main Street: Help to set out the tables and chairs, staff the Chamber Booth and sell 50/50 tickets for the Chamber. Help may also be required during the afternoon to help with the ‘Pie-Eating Contest’, ‘Dunk Tank’ and ‘Car Smash’.
  • Saturday from 11 pm on Main Street: Help to clean up after the Street Dance, and to load table and chairs.

Territorial Days in Deer Lodge

  Deer Lodge Territorial Days Events start on Saturday 20th June with the Prison Break Run, a fun run, walk and road race sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association. All runs start at 8:00 am with registration beginning one hour before race time at the Old Prison Museum, 1106 Main Street.

 The Show and Shine registration takes place in the Old Prison Yard from 9 am till 11 am. Entry is $25 for your 1st car, $10 each for your 2nd and subsequent cars. Entrants receive a goodie bag plus a chance to win one of our TOP 20 AWARDS or the Peoples Choice Award. More information can be found on this page. All Show N Shine participants leave at 11:20 am from the Prison Yard to join the parade.

 The Territorial Days Parade starts at 11:30 am from outside Muriah’s Restaurant on the corner of Main and Pennsylvania, and there will be Gift Certificates awarded to the best 3 parade entrants. The Pioneer Power and Tractor Association Antique Tractor Show will take place on Main Street after the Parade.

 Jaywalkers Jamboree will start after the parade, with vendors set up along Main Street selling everything from food and drink to jewelry, clothing, toys, art and craft items, etc. Attractions will be available for kids and those young at heart.

 The Country Showdown starts at 1 pm on the stage on Missouri and Main.

 The “Heather Lingle Band” will be on stage at 7 pm for our Free Street Dance, which runs until 11 pm.

 Other events are also taking place in Deer Lodge on Saturday, including special sales and other events at local stores. Check local paper and flyers for details.

Territorial Days Celebrations in Deer Lodge

June 13 – 15, 2014

  Events start with the 2nd Annual Tina Schowengerdt Memorial Barrel Race on Friday 13th. This Fundraiser for Tina’s House starts at 9 am at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. Saturday’s events start at 10 am and there is a BBQ and Auction from 5 pm – 7 pm in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion, $35 for a family. Sunday events start at 11 am. Admission is Free for all 3 days.

 The Main Territorial Days Events start on Saturday 14th June with the Prison Break Run, a fun run, walk and road race sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association. TERRITORIAL DAYS

The Powell County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the 24th Annual Territorial Days events this weekend.

Events kick off on this evening  with a Bonfire and Wine Tasting at the Deer Park Golf Course from 6:30 pm. Music provided by Steve and Susan Fullmer

 Tomorrow,  Saturday 15th June events begin at 8 am with the Prison Break Run, sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association. With a 3 K fun run/walk, a 5 K fun run and 10 K road race, Race Day registration begins one hour before race time. $15 for 3K entrants and $20 for 5K/10K entrants. Anyone with a Special Vehicle is encourage to register, from Hot Rods and Muscle Cars to Classic and Antique cars and motorcycles. Registration costs $18 for your first vehicle, $5 for each extra vehicle you enter. All entrants receive a dash plaque and bag full of goodies, and are entered into a competition where the Top 20 vehicles chosen by the drivers win an Award (a useful prize, not a trophy). There is also an award presented to the Peoples Choice.

All vehicles then join the Main Street Parade. All non Show N Shine participants in the Parade assemble by Scharfs Restaurant at 819 Main Street at 11:00 am. Entry in the Parade is free, just assemble on Pennsylvania at 11:00 am, no registration required.

The Parade starts at 11:30 am from outside Scharf’s Restaurant on Main Street (North end of the Old Prison Wall).

This years Grand Marshall is ‘In Memoriam of Tina Schowengerdt’. Tina’s grandson Rocky will be riding in the 1965 Mustang  alongside Tina’s faithful dog July.

Once the parade has passed, the Pioneer Power and Tractor Association Antique Tractor Show, Jaywalkers Jamboree, Texaco Country Showdown (Talent Show), Live Band (‘Genuine Article’) and Free Street Dance continue throughout the day on Main Street until 11 pm. NERF WARS will take place at the Old Prison Yard from 1 pm till 4 pm. Two age groups, 12 & under and 13 & above. $5 for a 15 minute session, $12 for 3 x 15 minute sessions. Sponsored by the Deer Lodge Development Group in partnership with the DUI Task Force a& Tri-County Addiction Services.

The Weekends events are rounded out by the Fathers Day Golf Tournament at the Deer Park Golf Course.

TERRITORIAL DAYS – DEER LODGE

Powell County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to Honor our Veterans as they march along Main Street during the 23rd Annual Territorial Days Celebration Parade this Saturday,16th June 2012 at 11:30 am

This year, the Grand Marshals in the Parade will be All Veterans. If you  are a Veteran yourself, we would love to have you join the Parade. If you know a Veteran, please invite them on our behalf. Rides will be available for those unable to march in the Parade. For further information, please call Cecil Neckels on 846-0029. Please assemble by Scharfs Restaurant at 819 Main Street at 11:00 am

Following in the Parade behind the Veterans will be our Show & Shine participants, with their Hot Rods, Classic and Antique cars and other Special Vehicles. Territorial Days Rod Run

The Sun is shinning,  temperatures are climbing and Summer is officially here. Time for a Parade!

The 22nd Annual Territorial Days Celebration in Deer Lodge begins with the Prison Break Run, sponsored by the Deer Lodge Athletic Association, starting at 8 am outside Mountain Man Trading Post on Main Street. Contact Candace Miller at 846-1191 for more information.

The Mike Walsh Memorial Wood Bat Tournament is taking place from 9 am till 9 pm at the American Legion Field at Jaycee Park. Featuring teams from Deer Lodge, Anaconda, Salmon, Helena, Mission Valley, Belgrade and Great Falls, games continue on Sunday at 9 am.

Show N Shine/ Top 20 Pick Awards registration take place in the Old Prison Yard from 9 am till 11 am. Entry is $18 for your 1st car, $5 for your 2nd and subsequent cars. Entrants receive a goodie bag with Dash Plaque, water bottle, a free pass to the Museums, local information and other freebies. Plus a chance to win one of our trophies (a set of stainless steel travel mugs).

Also taking place in the Old Montana Prison is the Annual Weapons Collectors Society of Montana Gun Show,  starting at 9 am. Admission is $5 for adults, pass is valid from Friday through Sunday and is good for the Gun Show and all Museums.

The Territorial Days Parade starts at 11:30 am on Main Street alongside the Old Montana Prison. Congratulations to Therese Hunt on being voted this years ‘Grand Marshall’. If you are not part of the Rod Run and wish to join the Parade, please enter at the corner of Pennsylvania and Main (by Scharfs Restaurant). The Pioneer Power and Tractor Association Antique Tractor Show will be on Main Street after the Parade.

This year, the Show N Shine entrants will turn around at Cottonwood (not the usual turn-around at California/Pizza Hut), and then line up along Main Street. The ‘Top 20’, as voted for by the  entrants themselves, will receive a trophy. For the first time a ‘Peoples Choice’ award will also be presented. Vote by placing your entry form in the box on the Chamber of Commerce table next to the stage. Cash prizes will be presented for the Parade, in the categories ‘Crowd Pleaser’, ‘Kids’, ‘Animal’, Business’ and ‘Organization’, winners judged by a panel of experts.

Jaywalkers Jamboree will then commence, with vendors along Main Street selling everything from food and drink to jewelry, clothing, toys, craft items, etc. Contact Therese Hunt at Lickety Print on 846-3455 for vendor space.

At 1 pm the Texaco Country Showdown will start on the  stage at Missouri and Main. Call Bob Toole at KQRV 96.9 FM the river on 846-1100 for details on how to enter.

Due to the recent flooding in Deer Lodge, the Board of Directors of the Powell County Chamber of Commerce has decided to reschedule Territorial Days. Events will now take place on Saturday 25th June 2011, coinciding with the Weapons Collectors Gun Show at the Old Montana Prison.
